About Me
My name is Martin Hill. I grew up in Portland, OR and I am currently based in Seattle, WA. Some of my favorite hobbies are playing sports and travelling, but when I don't feel like wearing my rain jacket, I love playing boardgames and watching TV shows. I've been waiting the last seven months to enjoy the PNW summer and remind myself why I put up with the other three seasons. Recently I have also been learning to build Magic the Gathering Commander decks. Queen Marchesa is my current project and you can check out my other decks on my Moxfield: Aargonaut.
I graduated from Oregon State University in June 2023 with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Compuer Science. I currently work as a mechanical engineer doing HVAC and plumbing design for commercial and residential buildings at Sider + Byers in Seattle. I interned in Mechanical Engineering at both Boeing in Seattle, WA and Corbin Consulting Engineering in Portland, OR. I have a strong background in CAD, Revit, 3D modelling, stats, math, and physics. Beyond mechanical engineering I also enjoy coding, technical writing, and UX design. My favorite computer science courses were Algorithms, Databases, and Usability Engineering and I have experience in Python, C, C++, html, CSS, JavaScript, React, SQL, and more. Software Engineering and Mechanical Engineering both interest me because of the way both fields challenge you to find elegant solutions to puzzles, whether you are making an algorithm more efficient or balancing airflow in a building.
