About Me

My name is Martin Hill. I'm from the rainy Pacific Northwest but currently, I'm in rainy Scotland! Some of my favorite hobbies are playing sports and travelling, but when I don't feel like wearing my rain jacket, I love playing boardgames and watching TV shows. I recently went to Amsterdam with my friends and ate a few too many Stroop Waffles. I have also been playing pick-up ultimate in Edinburgh and exlporing the disc golf courses in southern Scotland. This summer, I have been playing the board game Hidden Leaders, but Modern Art recently caught my eye, so I plan on trying that game next after my girlfriend and I finish rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I graduated in June 2023 from Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Compuer Science. I am interested in Software Engineering, Technical Writing, UX Design, and Mechanical Engineering. I interned in Mechanical Engineering at both Boeing in Seattle, WA and Corbin Consulting Engineering in Portland, OR. My course work gave my experience in Python, C, C++, html, CSS, JavaScript, React, SQL, and more. My favorite courses were Algorithms, Databases, and Usability Engineering. Those classes have sparked my interest in software engineering roles where I can work with data structures and algorithms or implement and use databases. I am also passionate about accessibility engineering so I would love to work in a Web Content/UX Design role where I can inform usable and inclusive design practices! Lastly, I am interested in exploring technical writing roles. Taking technical writing in college reignited my passion for writing, prompting me to actively work on my technical writing portfolio alongside my coding projects.
